There's a Mouse in the House
The oldest darlin' had Reading Celebration Day at her school where they dress up as their favorite book character. We kind of strayed from our favorite character to what we could be with what we have in the stash at home. The darlin' was tickled pink with her Angelina the Ballerina get-up, so all was well.

Nie Nie
When I first started reading blogs about two and half years ago I stumpled upon Stephanie Nielson's blog and unsuprisingly, it became a daily must-read. She is the type of person that you would love to be friends with. She dazzled me with her style, the intense love she shared with her husband and four children, her love of God, her craftiness and all those yummy-looking healthy meals she prepared. My family and friends can attest that when I found out about her and her husband's plane crash, I was stunned. I really could not quit thinking or talking about it. I still can't. Stephanie and Christian are in a burn unit in Arizona, still in critical condition. Stephanie has burns on 80% of her body and Christian 30% and they have months of recovery. The way Stephanie's blog touched me seemed to have to same effect on so many others. Bloggers have raised over $115,000 dollars to go towards their medical bills and even the national media has picked up on their story (see NYTimes article and Today Show).
Stephanie's sisters have been caring for her four children, keeping her blog running with archived posts and updating so many on Stephanie and Christian's progress as well as how the children are faring. What a wonderful family they are blessed with. But, they still need our prayers.
Stephanie's sister's blog, cjanerun is updated daily with reports on the Nielson family.

Glass Pony
I am so excited to start my own blog. I have long wrestled with the idea and now it is finally real. So, welcome! I stay at home and mother my three spirited girls and boy dog. I love pretty things, cupcakes, polka dots, beautiful photographs, travel, books and yummy food-so don't be surprised if you see a bit of it all. As for the name, my glass pony is one of my favorite possessions. My oldest daughter painted it on her fourth birthday and it makes me happy everytime I look at it.

September 11
On September 11, 2001 I was pregnant with my first daughter. Here is the letter I wrote her a few days later.
My Dear Daughter,
The time is drawing near...soon you will begin your life with us out here, in this great wide world. I've been thinking about writing this letter to you for a long while, I just wanted to give you a glimpse into what awaits you. With the happenings of the past few days you have been on my mind more than ever. Part of me feels like you are coming into this world at a good time, when our country is united and everyone seems to be going the extra mile to do their part for our freedom. But the other part fears for the uncertainty that lies ahead. I can only believe that years from now you will read this with the knowledge that September 11, 2001 was a tragic day in our nation's history, but one that we overcame in order to insure our freedom. For me, I have been thinking a lot about how much we take for granted. It had become easy to live day-to-day without appreciating the things that seem so basic. We are so fortunate to live in a country that protects our right to choose so many things. I just hope that your Daddy and I never fail in making you realize how lucky you are to be born in this great country. You have so much opportunity ahead of you and I intend to give you the love and strength you need to take full advantage of them all. I absolutely can not wait to look into your eyes and let you know how much you are loved. You are a very lucky little girl, you have two parents who love each other very much and who have so much love to shower upon you. I hope that the love your father and I share will be an example for you in your own life. We are young and I don't believe there is much practice for parenthood, but I vow that we will do our best. As you squirm around in my belly, I want you to know how much I love you and how grateful I am for the gift of being your mother.
All My Love,
Mom
